New York New York

While in NYC, I had the amazing opportunity to go to the Houghton show at the Standard Hotel. My sister actually made quite a bit of the jewelry used in the show (those white earrings above) so it was so fun being there with her and getting to see this fun, young line in such a pretty setting. I was so proud of her!

The DJ for the party wearing one of my sister's necklaces!

Sippin' on a Strawberry-Champagne Cocktail before the show!

After the show my sister and I dashed upstairs to the super swanky lounge at the Standard where  there are the most stunning  panoramic views of the highline and the river along with the whole of NYC. I highly recommend a trip up to the top when you next find yourself in NYC.

The sissy and I got Tiger's Blood cocktails- so divine!

Tibi Time

I had the opportunity to attend the Tibi Show at New York Fashion Week a few weeks ago and though the collection was very different than I had expected it'd be {particularly for Spring/Summer Tibi} I suppose that changing up your look every few seasons is part of the process and helps challenge you more as a designer. Amy's Spring collection featured a lot of denim, boxy vests, mesh lace and lots of neutral black, white and chambray (with a pale pink thrown in there.) I have been a long time fan of Tibi, even before my days interning for the brand in college. Their clothes have always appealed to me for their comfort, easy elegance and the beautiful silk colors and patterns. This skirt is still one of my favorites from the brand:

SHIRT: Vintage Chanel
SUNGLASSES: Prada
JEWELRY: Sequin (cool/similar earrings here, cool Max & Chloe chain necklace here
SHOES: Zara (similar here)

Here are a few snapshots from the show along with my favorite looks from Style.com:

And last but not least, I had to post my "celeb" blogger siting, Miss Atlantic Pacific! Do you recognize her?? One word: Feathers.

Thank you Tibi for letting me come enjoy!

Mara Hoffman S/S 2013

I literally was in heaven.

The Mara Hoffman Fashion Show at the Stage in the Lincoln Center was my favorite show we saw while in New York and it left me excited for springtime and balmy days at the beach (even in my hardcore fall/winter mood at the moment.) The whole collection was based off of the word "Aloha" and the peaceful lifestyle yet vibrant culture of the Hawaiian islands so you can imagine there were gorgeous island-inspired prints with stunning color combinations, amazing flowy fabrics and applique detailing mirroring Hawaiian quilting techniques. There were also some playful pineapple and toucan influences that made me smile. One of my favorite features of the entire show was the headpieces made of real palm frond and flowers with amazing  leaf wrap bracelets by Taylor Patterson. From the words of Mara Hoffman herself, in each collection including this one, her goal is to "always celebrate beauty" and she did that with flying colors, literally. Here are the highlights of the show from our lens:

Oh the sweet sounds of a ukulele- these three girlies started and ended the show.
My sister and I both decided this was our favorite dress from the collection- it truly took your breath away! (and yes, that is lil' kim there on the left, front row, with the white shirt and the tan skirt!)
Oh my heavens this model was truly knock your socks off gorgeous and all the vibrant colors looked phenomenal on her. I loved the colorful bustiers paired with light, flowy skirts- reminds me of my friend Suzanne!
Hard to see but lovely little cut outs on the sides of the bodice make this wonderful dress a touch more flirty.
The most amazing dress- it had so much movement and life.
Mara came out at the end and grabbed a cute little tot- I'm assuming hers... she is gorgeous by the way.
