Tuesday Flowers

Baby hydrangea stems make the perfect accompaniment for my windowsill- aren't fresh flowers the most amazing?? There are times when I wish I lived in a city where a bodega was just around the corner - what a luxury! Hoping you all have a beautiful, happy week. xx

Tuesday Flowers

Crisp white flowers in the living room not only smelled divine but looked it too. One of my favorites thus far. Hydrangeas + white roses + tulips = the perfect combination.

ORCHIDS

Purple orchids resurrected from a dying arrangement have been lighting up my apartment since finding my lemon-filled centerpiece on the dining table. Such a pretty contrast of color.

Feels Like Spring...

Oh, happiness is. My cute friend Suzanne took this picture at a wedding we both attended and it made me giggle. Our mutual amiga (who is a serious style and design maven) married a very intelligent and dapper gentleman on Saturday and the whole event was something out a dream. Crisp creams and mossy green set the tone and created a very soothing, glamorous, and all together spring-induced ambiance. I took a few pictures of the flowers (along with a few tidbits) for your viewing pleasure- Enjoy.

Hoping your week is off to a great start

Tuesday Flowers

My habitual trip to the market this week was met with many surprises as long-stemmed french tulips were in stock as well as hyacinths. The tulips are happy-as-can-be catching the light by a big window and the hyacinths smell divine.

Such a wonderful way to start the week!

Tuesday Flowers

Can you believe January is nearly over? Poof, and she was gone.

I am realizing more and more how important it is to quite literally stop and smell the roses. Find the beauty and joy in the norm and understand just how special each and every day is.

Have a beautiful week!

Peony Party

Fresh peonies in bloom have been the ultimate treat over the past few days. I broke down and splurged on a big cluster of them since I was entertaining and they continue to show off, revealing new, fresh layers every morning:

For smaller arrangements in the powder room, on a side table and for the bar, I filled little mint julep cups with multi-colored ranunculus, berries and billy buttons.

Sometimes I think in another day I was a florist or that I owned a little gem of a floral shop. Dreamy, fragrant and creativity in bloom on a daily basis. One of my favorite places ever in Dallas is Avant Garden- have you been? I've also recently learned of a fabulous little jewel of a company called Bows and Arrows out of Dallas. It's a dream!

Tuesday Tree

A recent outing to the store was not met without a hefty dose of holiday cheer. In lieu of my usual flower purchase for the week, I picked up this cute little xmas tree complete with silver sparkles and a "CHEER" tin. It's adding a little somethin' somethin' to my bookshelf this week and I'm hoping it will last through Christmas.

Tuesday Flowers- Mexico Style.

This weekend I had the super luxury of flying to Mexico for my best friend's 25th birthday bonanza. I've just gotten home, and needless to say it's going to be hard to really get back on track here after all the relaxation and sunshine! The hotel where we stayed had the most beautiful floral displays on our bedding- such a pretty way to be welcomed to a room. Happy Tuesday!

A (late) Flower Post

Image
Aren't these pretty? I wish we had more peonies at our flower shops in SA- they are so full and beautiful.

Since these flowers are still troopin' along from last week, and since I'll be gone this weekend, I decided not to splurge on a new bunch for now. Instead, I am seeking out fresh inspiration on Pinterest, and I have dedicated a whole board to zee blooms. You can check it out here!

I am thinking about buying a few more of these adorable vases from Anthro. They make such a thoughtful gift when filled with fresh flowers as a thank you or for a birthday.

Have a great rest of the week!

Tuesday Flowers

This past week I hosted a fun dinner party for a few girlfriends in accord with a monthly Supper Club that we have started. Flowers (of course) were one of the first things I went to buy and though I'm not normally a fan of carnations (particularly pink ones in the fall) these were so vibrant and they made such a statement that I took the plunge and went against the grain. I filled up small vintage glasses with chilled water, a little flower comida, and then trimmed the stems so that they were packed tight, creating more of an effect. I also snatched up some little tiger-striped pumpkins while at the store and they are doing my bookshelf well.

These Hermes products are left over from an amazing stay at the Alvear Palace in Buenos Aires. The green contrasted so well with the blooms.

I had some extra fuschia carnations that have been sitting pretty in my bedroom by an old photo of my mom and I.

Billy Button Flowers: no fall bookshelf would be the same without!

Have a fabulous day!

Tuesday Flowers + A Fashion Week Ensemble

The most beautiful violet roses at Bergdorf Goodmans

I am back from NYFW and had the best time scootin' around the city with my sister. We were lucky enough to attend the Mara Hoffman show at the Lincoln Center {Side Note: The Entire Collection makes me nostalgic for Hawaii and the first signs of spring} This little outfit is what I wore to the show- stay tuned for a full recap of MH later in the week:

Belt: Vintage/this Tory Burch incorporates black stretchiness with gold hardware- the best!
Necklace: Vintage Chanel/cute alternative made with Swarovski crystals at Nordstrom
Ring: Chamade/ADORE this all gold band from Shopbop {a must buy}

This outfit is really a hodge podge of sorts- the shirt belonged to my beloved grandmother who truly sparked a lifelong curiosity and love within me for impeccable style. I wore this shirt in her honor to my first official NYFW.
On top of this, the belt is my moms, the purse and the earrings are my sisters and the necklace was also from my grandmother- a gift given to us a few years ago! So really just the shoes and the skirt are mine, but let's face it, that's what sisters, mothers and grandmothers are for!!

Hope your week is off to a great start.

Tickled Pink

I couldn't help myself on my weekly floral stop yesterday...swooned by flowers...lordy be.. someone help me.

These pink hydrangeas reminded me of something I'd see in Santa Monica or even tucked along the coast of Newport. They are so full and they compliment my newly-revamped coffee table beautifully.

Isn't it amazing what some of your prettiest coffee table books and some thoughtful knick knacks can do as a central focal point?

Hoping your week has started off right!

Tuesday Flowers

I'm back from my trip abroad and have lots of fun flowers to share with you- and trust me, this is just the beginning! There are quite a few more that you'll probably be seeing the next few weeks, but for now, enjoy my dearies!

In Moscow- floral gardens that mirrored the beautiful multi-colored domes of St. Basil's Cathedral

The brightly colored planters around the Red Square

We were in Stockholm for the Midsummer Festival which in event celebrates the Summer Solstice. This whimsical summertime festival sees lots of floral garlands, maypoles, and its a national holiday in Sweden  where ladies frolik about town with wreaths in their hair, dreaming of whom they are going to marry- how fabulous right??? We minded tradition by sleeping with 7 dried flowers under our pillow (more on that later.)

My fabulous grand-papa at the Grand Hotel in Stockholm amidst a beautiful floral arrangement and a hot air balloon passing over the channel.

A simple Normandy patio accented with flowers

Beneath a pretty archway of roses and ivy in Normandy

Geraniums- Bonjour France!

Hope your week is blooming with happiness.
