GUEST POST: LA IN BLOOM

In this day and age, there are so many interesting and fabulous blogs out there, so when you find one that really sparkles, shines, and stands out from the rest, it  feels like a special discovery. LA in Bloom by the *stunning* Heather Taylor is one of those very special, gem-worthy blogs that I find myself returning to week after week for snippets of pretty, beautiful, and lovely things that make up her sunny life. It didn't take long for me to realize that Heather and I are actually quite similar at heart. We love entertaining, cooking, flowers, traveling, writing, the beauty of Los Angeles, and most importantly, the simple pleasures that life brings to the table. She is a hard-working contemporary art gallery owner based in Los Angeles that is also a long-time contributor to publications like the Huffington Post and Martha Stewart Weddings. Heather was sweet enough to sit down with us at Bluebonnets for Sal to dish on her favorite places in the city and we hope you have a chance to swing by her site! Also, make sure to check out her web videos that feature everything from entertaining tips to flower arranging techniques:

I bet you'll fall in love just as I did!

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself, your cute blog, and your life in sunny California.

I was born and raised in Malibu, CA and currently reside in West Hollywood. I own a contemporary art gallery in Culver City, which I own with my husband. I started with my blog LA in Bloom in 2008 and have been writing and making videos about food, style and lifestyle ever since.

2. What's your ideal day in the city from sunrise to sunset?

My ideal day begins with coffee in my backyard and the New York Times Business Section. I'm a workout fanatic, so any great day has to include a hike or yoga or a spin class. Next up, maybe a trip to the Hollywood Farmers Market to buy produce for the week and ingredients for the evening's dinner. After cooking dinner I love walking to the Arclight, a great movie theater near my house and seeing a film. After going to the movies, I love stopping by The Hungry Cat for a glass of wine and dessert. Total dream day.

3. Share with us some of your favorite shops/ shopping neighborhoods around the city?

West Third Street in West Hollywood has some charming boutiques, my favorite being The Traveler's Bookcase, a bookstore devoted exclusively to travel books. After purchasing a few wanderlust-inducing books, I stop by Joan's on Third for a latte and something sweet. The Silver Lake neighborhood is also a fun walking area - I love Mohawk General store for clothes and accessories, Spice Station for exotic dried spices and Clare Vivier for my favorite handbags and Chateau Marmont candles.

4. If you could live anywhere else where would you retreat to?

Yes! Sometimes I fantasize about living on a farm in Ojai, a cozy little town about 90 miles outside of LA. Raising vegetables, selling at the local farmers market, cooking, knitting, weaving. Sounds like a dream!

5. A nice hotel can make all the difference when traveling. We have stayed at the Beverly Hills Hotel and The Shutters, greatly enjoying them both. Do you have any great recommendations?

Chateau Marmont.

6. Where's your go-to spot(s) for a killer cocktail?

I meet up with my friends Holly and Becky (of flower studio Holly Flora) a few times a month for "happy hour" at the Mandake, a mellow dive bar near the gallery. We love sitting on the patio and sipping on Margaritas after a long week. When I'm in the mood for something swankier, I meet a friend at the bar at Pizzeria Mozza for chilled Prosecco.

7. There are so many great places to eat in the city- help us break it down and share with us your favorites.

Pizzeria Mozza for pizza, Gjelina for brunch, Real Food Daily for vegan health food, Pressed Juicery for the best almond milk and Salt's Cure for Oatmeal Griddlecakes (my favorite breakfast in LA).

Thank you Heather for visiting!!!
